Erin is a 4th year medical student pursuing a career in orthopaedic surgery.
Currently she is working with Drs Martin Boyer and Audrey McAlinden investigating the viability of proximal tibial epiphyseal plates of New Zealand White rabbits that have been harvested and stored ex vivo. She will also be involved in follow-up studies where stored tissue will be transplanted into recipient animals. Erin is also involved in a clinical study comparing outcomes of patients with cubital tunnel syndrome who have been treated with anterior transposition versus decompression of the ulnar nerve.

My research interests include reconstruction of the head and neck structures following trauma, oncologic resections, and congenital malformations. I was involved in a research project with Audrey McAlinden and Linda Sandell in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery to study differentiation of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells toward chondrocyte, osteoblast and adipocyte lineages.

My research is focused on understanding the regulation of chondrocyte differentiation from human mesenchymal stromal cells. Of particular interest is the induction of articular cartilage phenotype from mesenchymal stromal cells by altering the expression of specific transcription factors.
